BroadBand Light (BBL™) therapy is a type of light-based treatment that stimulates changes in your skin at the molecular level. The Sciton BBL™ can be customized to your desired outcome; working to remove age spots, sun damage, scars, unwanted hair, wrinkles, and loose skin. At Omni Cosmetic, we use the BBL™ treatment in Minneapolis & Saint Paul to also help with rosacea redness, flushing, spider veins, broken capillaries, acne, and uneven or brown pigment.
What Can I Expect During the BBL™ Experience?
Your eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses during a BBL™ treatment. You may briefly feel a warm or stinging “rubber band snap” sensation as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. Your procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area being treated and the type of procedure being performed.
What Areas Can be Treated?
At Omni Cosmetic in Wayzata and St. Cloud, any area of the body can be treated with BBL™. The most common areas are the most exposed to the damaging effects of sunlight. The most popular treatment areas are the face, neck, back of the hands, chest, and shoulders.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The number of BBL™ treatments needed will vary from patient to patient. At Omni Cosmetic, your provider will personalize a treatment plan based on your needs and desired results. Your provider may also combine other procedures to further personalize your treatment. Most patients at Omni Cosmetic need 3-6 BBL™ treatments done 4-6 weeks apart. Once we have achieved your desired result, we recommend maintenance treatments to keep your skin healthy and radiant.
What Should I Expect After the Treatment?
Most patients are slightly flushed after their treatment for a few minutes up to a few hours. Any brown pigmentation on the skin may turn darker for 10-14 days and resembles coffee grounds. This darkened pigment is easy to cover up with makeup and will naturally slough off the surface of the skin. Your treated skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores will be less noticeable and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results will depend on your condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated.
How Long Will it Take to Recover?
There is virtually no downtime with BBL™! This is a non-invasive, gentle procedure. In most cases, you are able to return to work, apply makeup, and resume most of your activities immediately.
