Just like the brand names Band-Aid and Kleenex, “Botox” is the name everyone seems to know when talking about neuromodulators. Botox® is a widely loved anti-aging treatment for its ability to magically soften unwanted lines and wrinkles.
There are four different brands of neuromodulators approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in the US – Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin® and Jeuveau®.
Botox was the first, approved in 2002 for its youth refreshing cosmetic benefits, which is why it rapidly gained popularity.
All four approved neuromodulators contain the same active ingredient (BoNT-A) and cost wise they are similar; however, their different formulations give to subtle differences, and they cannot be compared unit for unit.
